The following is a typical PM visit check list:
Baler
- Check all wear plates.
- Check knife blade gap; adjust as necessary.
- Check operation of pumps; adjust pressure if necessary.
- Tighten all electrical connections
- Check push button operation.
- Check gathering ram mounting bolts.
- Check ejector ram mounting bolts.
- Check oil filter change if necessary (filter supplied by others).
- Check blower motor and radiator for blockage.
- Check all motor to pump couplings and adjust if necessary.
- Check all prox and limit switches for clean and proper operation.
- Check hold up bars for correct clearance.
- Check gathering ram rod packing; adjust if necessary.
- Check ejector ram rod packing; adjust if necessary.
- Check electrical breaker linkage; adjust if necessary.
- Inspect air breathers; replace or clean if necessary (elements supplied
by other).
- Check oil level.
- Take oil sample and send to laboratory for analysis.
- Check and clean magnets (if equipment).
- Check photo eyes for proper operation; clean if necessary.
- Check all mechanical operation for wear.
- Make recommendations on any repairs that need to be fixed.
Conveyor
- Check bearing for grease and noise.
- Check belt for proper tension (adjust take ups if needed).
- Check chain drive (if equipped).
- Check air clutch (if equipped).
- Check chain belt oilers (if equipped).
- Check reduction gear box for oil and wear.
Tier
- Check pinch wheels.
- Check wire gripper.
- Check twister pinion.
- Check track.
- Check cutter.
- Check ejector blades.
- Check wire stop.
- Check operation of safety switches.
